Applied Policy Science
The programme provides policy-relevant skills and knowledge, which will empower you to address complex issues confronting civil society in policy and governance and enable you to compete and excel in careers in public, policy and political-facing roles. Some of the programme is delivered as taught modules, including 1 in a leading Westminster policy think tank. The majority of this programme comprises taught modules and the production of a dissertation. You will be encouraged to tailor your studies to align the course with areas of personal or professional interest. Centred on a conceptual and theoretical repertoire applied to real-world policy problems and contexts, this programme provides you with the ability to apply a policy science approach, create, critically evaluate and communicate policy-relevant knowledge. It includes modules on policy, governance, globalisation, constitutional frameworks and research methods.
UK honours degree or its international equivalent (at least lower 2nd Class) or professional qualification deemed to be Honours degree (2nd Class) equivalent. For students where English is not their 1st language or where their degree has not been studied in the English language, a score of at least 6.5 on IELTS (or equivalent) is required. Direct entry onto the Doctoral level is possible to individuals holding a recognised Master's level qualification in an appropriate field. Applicants, particularly those who don�t meet the above criteria, may be required to attend for an interview. Students will require access to a personal computer with an internet connection to undertake this course.
