The course gives the innovative promoter chances to explore personal interests at postgraduate level, underpinned by extensive research, and combined with benefits of debate and peer review, the individual will subsequently be able to view their place within the multifaceted industry of the future.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to have completed an undergraduate programme or 1st degree in a relevant subject (e.g. fashion and brand promotion, marketing, public relations, journalism, fashion merchandising, photography, design), normally at 1st or upper 2nd classification (or the equivalent of a UK GPA of 60 per cent); all applicants need to prepare a comprehensive study plan proposal which should evidence interest, dedication or experience within the subject of lifestyle and fashion; exceptionally an applicant who does not meet the above academic criteria but who has considerable appropriate work experience are considered; the application form must be accompanied by: evidence of creative ability; a comprehensive study plan proposal; IELTS 6.5 or equivalent for applicants whose first language is not English.

Course modules

Design research 1: Literature and contextual review (written assignment); design practice 1: Learning agreement (written document); reflective journal (blog/ research document); body of work (portfolio); design research 2: Position of practice (written assignment); design practice 2: Learning agreement (written document); body of work (portfolio); body of work (portfolio/ internal conference paper / journal article / project.

Assessment methods

The course is continually assessed through module requirements, allowing students to achieve target awards, final modules are graded: Pass; merit; distinction.
