This programme is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in business and management and is particularly suited to those with little or no work experience since graduation; it aims to provide a rigorous postgraduate business and management education, which helps students become an effective professional or manager, giving a thorough understanding of management techniques, marketing, accounting and finance, human resource management, strategic management, the business environment and cultural and ethical issues; students also undertake personal postgraduate research work on a business and management topic, relevant to interests or future career plans.
A recognised university undergraduate Honours degree, with at least a lower 2nd Class classification; or a professional qualification deemed to be equivalent.
Semester 1 core modules: Management theory and practice; teamwork and leadership in action; human resource management; marketing principles and concepts; accounting and finance; critical perspectives on management. Semester 2 core modules: Business environment; strategic management; managing across cultures; change management; business and management ethics; business and management research methods. Semester 3 core modules: Master's dissertation.
Within each module the assessment methods are designed to contribute to continuing development; giving feedback on a regular basis, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing periodic evaluations of progress.
