Accounting and Finance
Minimum 2.2 Honours degree in a business-related subject, which should ideally include some study of accounting and finance. Other applications, for example, applicants with business experience, will be considered at the course leader's discretion.
Year 1: Introduction to financial accounting; introduction to management accounting; information systems and the business environment; introduction to economics; law for accounting; fundamentals of business mathematics. Year 2: 4 options: Corporate finance; financial services; financial accounting; international finance; information systems, control and audit; management accounting. Year 3: You will continue to study the same subject streams as in year 2; we also offer a number of electives and options that provide you with an opportunity to gain an additional professional body qualification.
Assessment methods include: Essays; reports; oral presentations; group assessments; investigating companies and tackling briefs from industry. In your final year you will have the opportunity to undertake an independent dissertation or company project. Exams account for no more than 50 per cent of the final mark (with exception of the accounting modules).
