Urban Environmental Management

The underlying ethos is that urban and environmental management requires both scientific and managerial expertise to integrate spatial and other forms of official intervention, particularly those related to urban and regional planning and to policy and management for environmental protection; as organisations develop corporate responsibility policies they are looking to employ urban environmental managers; the course provides a critical approach to theories, techniques and methods in urban planning and regeneration within the context of the environment.

Entry requirements

Applicants require a lower 2nd Class Honours degree in an appropriate/relevant subject or qualification or experience deemed to be equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Integrated urban planning; practical aspects of waste management; applied ecology; environmental pollution control; dissertation; waste resource and solutions; environmental management within organisations; urban regeneration or urbanisation in 21st century; dissertation.

Assessment methods

A combination of both coursework and on-line exercises; the coursework types includes the following: Technical reports, case studies essays, presentations, group work, on-line forum activity and academic posters.
