Cancer Biology and Therapy

Cancer remains a leading cause of death, but great strides are being made in our knowledge of basic cancer biology as well as potential therapies; this course provides specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of basic molecular, genetic and biological processes associated with cancer together with an emphasis on the advances in pathology, diagnosis and therapy.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a lower 2nd Class Honours degree of a UK university or its equivalent in a biological discipline, for example biochemistry, physiology, biomedical science. Students whose 1st language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language: IELTS at 6.5; TOEFL at 600 (paper) and 250 (CBE) with a TWE of 4.

Course modules

Modules include: Social, ethical and legal aspects of cancer therapy; research and laboratory skills; cancer biology; drug design and delivery; research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: Examinations; essays; data handling and interpretation; log-books; practical reports; project reports; poster and oral presentations.
