Industrial Pharmaceutics

The programme is designed for students wishing to pursue either a career in the pharmaceutical industry or an allied discipline; it is developed with the aim of giving graduates the necessary knowledge and practical skills to work within the pharmaceutical industry, with particular emphasis on dosage form development and manufacture; the course includes 6 taught modules and a research project investigating a particular aspect of cancer biology or therapy of choice.

Entry requirements

A lower 2nd Class Honours degree in chemistry, pharmacy, biology or a related subject, or equivalent; interview; English language qualifications may be required.

Course modules

Modules include: Practical techniques in industrial/medicinal chemistry; applied biopharmaceutics; advanced drug delivery; pharmaceutical regulation, clinical trials and pharmacovigilance; pharmaceutical technology and formulation development; research methods for clinical science; research project.

Assessment methods

The assessment methods used include: Essays, data interpretation/analysis, both written and practical reports, group and individual presentations, examinations, competence assessments, research project reports.
