Pre-Registration Nursing (Mental Health)
Applicants will be selected based upon the following: Assessment at course interview; occupational health medical screening; disclosure and barring service criminal background check; satisfactory reference, indicating suitability for the course. In addition to the above selection criteria, all candidates must demonstrate achievement of the academic entry requirements, as follows: 1st Degree (2.2 or above); GCSE Mathematics (Grade C or above); GCSE English (Grade C or above); settled residency status, for 3 years' or more prior to commencement of the course.
Modules for the mental health nursing field include: Exploring the context and culture of nursing and health; foundations of mental health nursing; 2 9 week practice placements; developing and applying clinical practice in mental health nursing; evidence for practice; 2 10 week practice placements; developing the autonomous practitioner; dissertation; 1 10 week and 1 12 week practice placements.
