Agile Software Projects

This course provides professional development for practising software developers and managers to support the move from traditional to agile development methods; students develop the skills and understanding required for agile software development, develop skills in critical evaluation, communication and self-management, and develop their skills as an independent learner; a critical analysis project is a compulsory element for the course; students are provided with academic supervision for the project in their workplace and are given feedback on their reflections and analysis of situations at work.

Entry requirements

Applicants require a good Honours degree; must be working as a software developer in a position to work on a substantial agile development for the Master's project. They will also be expected to be employed. If you don't have the qualifications above you will be interviewed to assess your suitability for the course. Those for whom English is a 2nd language require a minimum standard for written English of IELTS 7.0.

Course modules

Modules include: Agile systems development; project management; users and requirements; workshop facilitation and research theory; practice in people centred computing; optional modules include: talk about requirements.

Assessment methods

Assessment is primarily through coursework, but does also include a number of examinations; a variety of formative and summative exercises are undertaken including short papers, work based assignments, oral presentations, electronic presentations and a dissertation.
