The course prepares students for careers in social work and those who successfully complete the course are eligible to register with the Generial Social Care Council (GSCC) as social workers; the course equips students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to practice as a newly qualified social worker; the programme is supported by key agency stakeholders, including Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Social Service Departments and a range of voluntary sector agencies; health and social care service users and carers are involved in the design and development of the programme.
A recognised British Honours degree to a good standard, or equivalent.
Academic assessments include essays, presentations, practice portfolio and a practice related professional study in year 2 (8,000 - 10,000 words); verification of student practice are undertaken by accredited assessors who meet GSCC requirements.
