Physical Education and School Sport
This course develops the knowledge and skills of its students to provide them with the potential to make a significant contribution to the sport and education industries; the ever changing and complex nature of this area means that there is a need for high quality, effective managers and leaders with the knowledge and capabilities to drive evolving education and community initiatives.
Students require a good Honours degree (or equivalent) in which a major part of their studies has incorporated aspects of sports; other graduates who can demonstrate a commitment to the study of sport or who have significant experience in the sport industry are also considered for entry; this course may involve regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults; where this is the case, students are required to obtain enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
PG Certificate modules include: Comparative PE and school sport systems; pedagogy and learning to learn; youth, sport, policy and practice; managing people in sport; professional development for sport, PG Diploma modules include: Sport philosophy to practice; consultancy project; research methodology for sport, the MA includes a dissertation.
Assessment includes consultancy reports, essays, presentations, and interviews.
