This programme encompasses the diversity of contemporary fine art disciplines, and is distinctive in having an interest in the position of textiles within a fine art context; the programme has at its core a strong interrelationship between practice and theory that is relevant to contemporary fine art production, meaning and curatorial trends.
Minimum of Lower 2nd Class Honours degree in art and/or design and evidence of recent work equivalent to Honours degree standard required; applications must include statement of intent supported by 12 colour slides or digital images showing evidence of recent work; suitable candidates are invited for interview, to which they should bring a portfolio of recent, original work.
Core modules: orientating and developing practice; critical and contextual approaches to contemporary practice; reflective practice; contextualising and articulating practice; major exhibition/research project (MA students).
Assessment is achieved through practical work, reflective journal, written assignments and exhibition.
