Broadcast Media

Our MA in Broadcast Media offers you the opportunity to develop and hone discipline-specific practical production skills, while gaining a theoretical understanding of the Broadcast Media Industry.

Entry requirements

The entry requirement is a 1st degree; there is no requirement for prospective students to hold a 1st degree specifically in Broadcast Media, or another media subject, as the level of theoretical and practical teaching and learning accounts for students who hold degrees from different disciplines. Applications from non-traditional or mature students, with relevant professional experience, are welcomed.

Course modules

Modules: radio studio: strip formats and magazine programmes; radio live: outside broadcasts and remotes; broadcast media industry practices; multi-skilling for television; tv formats and features; research skills and methods; broadcast media project.

There are a range of individual and group practical and written assignments with many of the modules using Industry-focused 'briefs' for assessments; these kind of assessments require students to consider many key aspects of broadcast production such as audience, compliance and cost
