This course is of interest to those concerned with the exploration of all aspects of performance, songwriting and composition or popular music studies; it is designed to develop performers', composers' and musicologists' practical and creative skills, as well as their theoretical understanding to an advanced level; pathways in performance, songwriting and composition, and popular music studies are offered.

Entry requirements

Minimum of upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a related subject; professional experience and expertise may be taken into account; applicants are expected to attend a workshop and/or interview.

Course modules

Core modules: Research methods; the mechanics of music; plus elective modules.

Assessment methods

Assessment can take the form of performances, the submission of portfolios of original music, essays, practical presentations, lecture-demonstrations and oral assessments.
