Work-Based Learning Facilitation (Work-Based and Integrative Studies)

This course is aimed at those about to assume the role of associate tutor on the WBIS programme; upon successful completion students are able to register as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; students develop the skills required to facilitate and assess work- based learners involved in higher education (HE).

Entry requirements

1st degree or equivalent work-related experience and a position to facilitate higher education students on a work-based learning type programme of study; ideally, participants either are higher education lecturers or approved associate tutors of the university and have appropriate interaction with students in order to meet requirements for Higher Education Academy Fellowship upon completion of this programme.

Course modules

Core modules: Theoretical perspectives on work based learning; higher education (HE) frameworks for negotiated work based learning; facilitation and assessment in work based learning.

Assessment methods

Students negotiate aspects of their assessment.
