Areas of research include: manager identity and identityformation (through formal and informal learning processes,power, politics, conflict and control in management practice andmanager learning, participation, involvement and the mythsof empowerment); performance management; organisationculture; human resource strategy; strategic management.
Applicants should normally have, or expect to obtain, at least an upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a discipline appropriate to their intended area of research; substantial prior research experience may, in some instances, be acceptable in place of a 1st degree qualification; if the student is not sure whether this might apply to them, they need to contact the Graduate School who will be able to advise them; international students must provide evidence of English proficiency at the time of application.
