Primary Education (Early Years)

The programme aims to develop reflective early years practitioners and seeks to enhance the personal and professional qualities applicants already have and develop sensitivity to the needs of others and due regard for equal opportunities.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 2.1 Honours degree; GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English language, mathematics and a science (preferably combined); it should be noted though that a grade B in 1 or more of the above subjects would be preferred; 10 days or more school experience is required as is enhanced clearing from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Course modules

Modules include: Professional development education (PDE); the core curriculum in the early years foundation stage and key stage 1; the non core curriculum in the early years foundation stage and key stage 1; 2 professional placement modules.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: Lesson observation feedback; development of subject knowledge; assignments; submission of professional files.
