Medicine of Ageing

This programme will aim both to inform and equip the practitioner with the necessary skills to function in a modern clinical environment specialising in caring for the elderly, and will be as relevant to day to day NHS hospital and general practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a medical 1st degree, or hold appropriate professional qualifications and be able to demonstrate suitable background knowledge and skills. Applications are invited from: NHS staff; health professionals from overseas; those with related undergraduate degrees (e.g. Dietetics) or equivalent professional qualifications and background experience.

Course modules

Modules include: Evidence based medicine; analysis and interpretation of clinical data; the science of ageing; organic psychiatry and psychopharmacology; frailty medicine; current clinical practice; research dissertation.

Assessment methods

The research dissertation is assessed by the production of a substantial review paper and an academic research article suitable for publication in an appropriate research journal.
