Early Years Professional Practices
This programme has been designed for Early Years practitioners and allows you to receive academic recognition for existing knowledge and skills, work-based learning, or modules taken at other institutions. The course offers a flexible and responsive approach to meeting the continuing professional development (CPD) requirements of employers and practitioners. It addresses current agendas for flexible, practice-focused and work-based, post-qualifying training. The course is tailored to individual interests and development needs, as well as current and future career goals. Content includes work-based projects and activities, enabling students to effect real change in their own organisation, within an academic framework.
Modules include: child development; leadership and pedagogy; legal and policy frameworks; advanced critical analysis and decision making; how to conduct research; dissertation. Optional modules include: advanced practice in working with risk; mentoring; developing resilience; critical review of practice theory; portfolio of academic and professional learning and development.
Students will be assessed by a variety of methods, including essays, presentations, portfolio and exam. There is also a dissertation for the Master's programme.
