Composition for Film, TV and Games
The MA in Film, TV and Games Composition offers students professional training in writing and producing commercially viable music for the media industries. The MA provides the requisite specialist compositional techniques, operational understanding of the hybrid studio and its range of technologies, and advanced productional skills which will equip students for a career in any of the major areas of the industry where music is used creatively to accompany the moving image: Film, TV, Games, Library Music, Adverts and Trailers. Students are taught by working industry professionals and great emphasis is placed upon working to real-world briefs, to real-world deadlines and in a professional environment within a state of the art recording and media technology facility. Students learn to process critical notes and interpret direction, and to iterate their work and deliver a finished product on time, on budget and on brief. Students are taught how to prepare for and run a recording session, how to manage music budgets and how to navigate the industry as a media composer. Students work collaboratively with post-graduate directors, screenwriters, editors and producers and they will have the opportunity to contribute to professional projects.
