Special Educational Needs Co-Ordination (SENCO)
The programme is strongly rooted in evidence-based special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) practice in the work place, equipping special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs) to evaluate and develop effective leadership and management of SEND provision. The course will encourage students to discuss topics including: the new SEN (0- 25years) code of practice and requirements of the local offer; developing students� leadership and management skills; managing and deploying the SEN team; understanding and using data to ensure pupils are making progress and achieving; working with colleagues to create inclusive learning environments; developing positive partnerships with parents and other agencies; working strategically to promote achievement for all pupils with different abilities and backgrounds.
If you are a SENCO/inclusion manager new to the role from September 2013 or will become a SENCO within the academic year of the programme, you are eligible to apply. We also welcome experienced SENCOs who are interested in gaining the national award.
