1st or 2nd class Honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via APL procedures. Applicants would normally be currently employed in an educational setting, responsible for the learning of others, or have access to an educational setting. UK based participants joining the programme who are not already working in an educational setting are required to gain DBS clearance as they will need to access educational settings for their research and enquiry during the programme.
Modules include: Critical enquiry; planning enquiry; dissertation. To gain named pathway awards, the appropriate module must be successfully completed and the dissertation be within the same specialist area. Optional modules include: Teaching and learning; assessment for learning; leadership in educational contexts; individual study; action research; CPD portfolio; inclusive practice; integrated working; early years; mentoring and coaching; curriculum development; teacher education and development.
A range of formats including research and evaluation papers, research proposals, critical review of literature, patchwork texts, reflective journals, case studies, and portfolios. Within the majority of modules participants are required to submit a proposal outlining their assignment and the tutor provides formative feedback in response to this.
