Middle Leadership

The course provides national recognition of your leadership development and professional achievement as a middle leader. It was designed for middle leaders with responsibility for leading a team, including key stage/subject/curriculum leaders, heads of department and pastoral leaders. This qualification has a flexible, modular structure that combines core modules with the freedom to develop your own professional areas of interest through the choice of elective modules. You can plan your study around home and work commitments, completing the qualification at a pace that suits you. National professional qualification for middle leadership (NPQML) is assessed and awarded by the National College, with assessment focusing on tasks linked to school improvement activities undertaken in the workplace.

Course modules

Essential modules: Leading teaching; managing systems and processes (essential). Elective modules (choose one): Leading inclusion: achievement for all; leading an effective team; leading and developing staff; succeeding in middle leadership; leading change for improvement; leading in a diverse system.
