Leadership and Management in Policing

This course provides students with a thorough understanding of strategic business skills to meet the challenging financial environment that policing services are subject to. Managing shrinking budgets and the pace of change within the public sector requires an in-depth knowledge of practices and leadership skills to ensure public confidence in policing and those that lead those services remains at a high level. This programme is aimed at those individuals who wish to realise their potential in securing senior leadership and management positions within the Police Service.

Entry requirements

1st or 2nd Class Honours degree; students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) procedures.

Course modules

Modules include: Leadership and organisational behaviour; strategic thinking and effecting change; finance for the professional manager; diversity and equality management; managing police organisations; principals of postgraduate management research; postgraduate independent project.
