Community Specialist Practice (General Practice Nursing)
This course will prepare you for the role of Community Specialist Practitioner within General Practice Nursing. With a balance of 50% theory and 50% practice, the course will facilitate development of broad knowledge and skills in relation to public health, evidence-based practice, leadership, change management and collaborative working. It will also develop specialist knowledge and skills in aspects such as health assessment, clinical care and case management.
1st or 2nd class Honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via APL procedures. If you apply for this course you must be current on the NMC Nursing register and you will need to provide evidence of study at level 6 within the last five years or complete an approved study skills course.
Leading evidence based general practice nursing; evidence based practice; public health in practice; facilitating health and behaviour change; consultation and physical examination: health assessment skills; qualificatory practice unit: community specialist practice; qualificatory unit of study: community practitioner nurse prescribing; qualificatory unit of practice: community practitioner nurse prescribing.
Competence profile; patchwork text portfolio; health needs assessment briefing paper; examination; essay; verbal presentation to and assessed by peers and lecturer; OSCEs; mentor assessment of competence in practice, through a process of formative and summative assessment.
