Developing Paramedic Practice
This course has been developed in collaboration with the North West Ambulance Service to meet the educational needs of paramedics. We understand the need for a flexible approach to learning and the demands of shift work. You may be in work and want to broaden your knowledge and skills and improve your career prospects. 1st or 2nd class Honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via APL procedures. To access this course you must be a qualified paramedic, registered with the Health Care and Professions Council or an equivalent and presently working in an emergency ambulance service or similar accident and emergency or first contact health care practice environment. You will need to provide a statement from your current employer who must make reference to your professional competence.
Core modules: Clinical decision making in contemporary paramedic practice; evidence based practice. Optional modules: Leadership and change; pre-hospital care of women and children's health; medicines ; therapeutics and pharmacology; pathophysiology and diseases in practice; advancing mental health across the health care spectrum; emergency care: care of minor illness and trauma; emergency care: management of acute illness and major trauma; clinical supervision; multi professional support of learning and assessment in practice; negotiated learning; work based learning.
