Stroke Rehabilitation

Students learn with in a small group and share their experiences of stroke care with others from different health care backgrounds and organisations. The programme aims to facilitate and support effective learning and develop students' powers of critical analysis, evaluation and reflection upon professional practice to an advanced level. On successful completion of the course students should be able to: critically analyse, discuss, evaluate and reflect upon theories, models and approaches to stroke rehabilitation; show a mastery of the complex nature of stakeholder contribution in stroke rehabilitation; demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the complexities of inter-professional and multi agency working in stroke rehabilitation practice.

Entry requirements

1st or 2nd Class Honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via accredited prior learning (APL) procedures.

Course modules

Core modules: Rehabilitation theories and perspectives; contemporary issues in rehabilitation. Optional modules: Reasoning and reflection in rehabilitation; independent study in rehabilitation.

Assessment methods

Assessment will include: Individual presentation; reflective writing; written assignment/report.
