Supervision of Counselling and Therapeutic Practice
1st or 2nd Class Honours degree. Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) procedures. Applicants must have either: Standard university entry: An Honours degree with classification of 2.2 or above, this does not have to be in a related subject; or non-standard entry: Standard University practice will be followed with respect to applicants without traditional entry requirements. on-standard entrants are required to attend an extended interview and demonstrate their ability to benefit from and successfully complete the programme; and competence in English language. Additional entry criteria: Applicants must: Have a professional qualification as a counsellor/psychotherapist/counselling psychologist or other relevant professional therapeutic training and qualification, e.g. Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, with membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, BPS, BAAT, BADth, BAMT, HCPC); have 2 years post qualifying experience working therapeutically with clients; pass an interview.
Modules include: Foundations of supervision; developing an approach to supervision; the supervisory relationship in context.
The assessments are through coursework which is directly relevant to professional practice. This may include: written assignments; reflexive journals; presentations; group work; case studies; literature reviews; reports; portfolios; practical skills exercises.
