Non-Medical Prescribing for Pharmacists

This award provides a course which aims to prepare pharmacists designated by law for their roles as non-medical prescribers. Successful completion of the course allows you to seek to have your qualification recorded by the professional body, the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Entry requirements

Evidence of prior successful study at level 6 and within 6 years of the course start date.

Course modules

Modules include: Consultation skills for pharmacists; principles of prescribing practice in the context of pharmacists; developing clinical skills for non-medical prescribing through work based learning.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on: Critique of consultation skills; portfolio; objective structured clinical; examination (O.S.C.E.) assessed by DMP; competency profile assessed by DMP; viva voce.
