Non-Medical Prescribing for Nurses
We have provided a multi-professional, flexible, part-time course which will prepare nurses, midwives, health visitors designated by law for their roles as non-medical prescribers. Successful completion of the course allows you to seek to have your qualification recorded by the professional body, the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Evidence of prior successful study at level 6 and within 6 years of the course start date.
Modules include: Pharmacology for Prescribing (Core 10 credits at level 6); principles of prescribing in the context of nursing, midwifery and health visiting (Core 20 credits at level 7); developing clinical skills for non medical prescribing through work based learning (Core 10 credits at level 7).
Assessment methods include: Examination; viva (spoken assessment); portfolio of evidence; competency profile.
