Medical Ultrasound

This course is modular, with a range of optional, core and negotiated modules; this allows students to put together a programme of study that meets their individual learning needs; it comprises a mixture of distance, online and work based learning, with tutor support and study days.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree (or above) in a health related subject, or an equivalent; relevant professional qualifications and experience.

Course modules

Modules include: principles of medical ultrasound; focused specialist ultrasound 1 and 2; general medical ultrasound; gynaecology ultrasound; obstetric ultrasound; ultrasound in early pregnancy assessment; vascular ultrasound; advancing communication skills; advancing practice; advanced technology; research methodology, application to advanced practice; work-based learning; independent scholarship.

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a variety of methods including written assignments, case reports, computer based image interpretation and observed clinical assessments.
