This course aims to offer students the chance to gain a foothold in the hugely popular and competitive publishing industry. Students will cover every stage of publishing from initial ideas to book launches and will gain experience in real world publishing settings. It also combines editorial and production skills with an understanding of legal, business and ethical considerations.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (2.2 or above) in a relevant subject.

Course modules

Modules: the publishing profession; editorial; print and digital production; marketing and sales in modern publishing; English for editors; legal frameworks for publishers; contemporary challenges in leadership and management.

Assessment methods

Work will be assessed using a wide range of methods, including oral and written presentations, reports, essays and portfolios of practical work in areas such as editing, production, marketing, design and digital publishing.
