Sport and Exercise

This course is structured to allow flexibility in learning, so students can study around their working hours through a blend of online learning and face-to-face research contact. The course has been designed to enable students to focus their research on an area in which they are most interested, allowing them to tailor the degree to their future career aspirations. Students will also have the opportunity to enhance their practical skills, with hands-on learning a key part of the course.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree (typically a 2.1 or higher) in sport and exercise or a related discipline. Applicants who have worked in the sport and exercise field, may also be considered as eligible for this course. All applicants will be interviewed. Applicants whose 1st language is not English will need to provide evidence of their proficiency.

Course modules

Modules include: independent research; negotiated module in sport and exercise; research methods: application and evaluation; planning and managing research; research ethics; information literacy; research leadership, risk and enterprise; the art of thesis writing; getting research published.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: essays, portfolios, a dissertation, blogs, presentations and a viva voce.
