Applied Petroleum Geoscience

This course enables students to build upon their existing geoscience knowledge to create a wider and more encompassing understanding of the petroleum system. This comprehensive course combines both academic and practical teaching. Teaching takes place in the classroom, laboratory, and in the field, giving students an encompassing and varied learning experience.

Entry requirements

1st or 2nd class undergraduate degree in a geoscience subject. Applicants will normally need 1 of the following English language qualifications: IELTS 6.0; GCE O level English language grade C; GCSE English grade C. Other equivalent English language qualifications may be accepted and applicants should provide full details with their application.

Course modules

Modules may include: petroleum geology; petroleum techniques; geological and commercial risk; advanced petroleum geology; subsurface analysis; basin analysis; independent project.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes written coursework, presentations and timed essays.
