Our exciting new MA will develop your higher level critical awareness of the concept of childhood, informing your practice and enhancing your professional relationships with children and young people. You can take your next career step if you are already working with children and young people or have completed undergraduate studies in a related subject and explore childhood and its contested nature, considering multi- and interdisciplinary perspectives and the competing narratives that surround it

Course modules

Positioning Childhood; Children and Young People's Participation and Agency; Children and Young People's Relationships and Emotional Health; Southern Childhoods: the cultural context of childhood; Crafting Your Masters Study; Independent Studies.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods will be varied and could include such activities as written academic essays, oral and visual presentations, report writing and the production of a research report in the form of a thesis on a chosen aspect of childhood.
