BSc Health Sciences (Post-Registration)
The course will enable you to develop graduate, lifelong learning skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and the use of evidence-based practice to enhance your professional and academic skills. You will be given the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of topics which relate to your professional practice. Successful completion of the course will provide you with the academic skills, attitudes and values required to progress to higher levels of study as well as enhancing the quality of your professional practice. The course is delivered by a team of highly experienced educators and practitioners who have significant experience in their subject area and in delivering modules through face to face and distance learning methods. They will also provide you with the highest level of academic support during your studies. The modules are designed to help you develop sound, evidence-based knowledge. Many of the modules are delivered online which will enable you to study in your own time and also remain in your own country of practice whilst undertaking the degree. At the same time you can take advantage of opportunities to network through My Dundee (the virtual learning environment) and share your learning experiences with other students. The University of Dundee has offered this BSc course for five years and it has been recently revised and approved through the University quality assurance processes. The course is a 'top up degree' designed for nurses, midwives and other health professionals to upgrade their Diploma (or equivalent)
Bachelor of Science - BSc: The BSc programmes are for nurses, midwives and other health and social care contexts such as the voluntary sector, managers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), physiotherapists and nutritionists. As our programmes are delivered through on-line distance learning you will need reliable access to the internet. All applicants are required to demonstrate the achievement of 120 credits at level 7 and 120 credits at level 8 (or equivalent) prior to commencing the programme. This is usually demonstrated by the programme leading to your professional qualification. All applications are reviewed individually and this will determine the number of modules you need to complete.
A range of on-line assessment methods are utilised. These include: Essay assignments Online discussions, debates and quizzes Completion of portfolios Students will have full support and guidance from the module team for completion of assessments.
