Writing Practice and Study (MLitt)
This course is engaged in the world of contemporary publishing, offering students the opportunity to meet with writers and publishers from around the UK and beyond and to take part in a number of literary activities, from performing their own work to being showcased at the literary festival.
A 2.1 Honours degree in any subject; applicants with alternative qualifications and/or relevant experience may also be considered; all applicants should submit a piece of their creative writing (a poem or short piece of prose (no more than 3 pages); an explanation of the creative project may also be included with the application; applicants should also provide, as part of their postgraduate application, copies of their degree transcript and, if applicable, a copy of their degree award certificate, 2 reference letters and written work in a subject relevant to literary study. IELTS of 7 (or equivalent), if the 1st language is not English.
Modules include: creating writing; studying writing; publishing writing; performing writing; refining writing; writing, texts and books; planning writing.
Portfolio, essay and a dissertation.
