Simulation-Based Education

This course provides standards for clinical educators in the use of simulation for safe clinical practice. The programme is designed to offer participants a specialist qualification in the emerging role of an educator in simulation based education for safe health care practice.

Entry requirements

Graduate level or equivalent health care qualification in a relevant subject. IELTS of 6.5 (or equivalent), if the 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Clinical skills and simulation; an introduction to patient safety and quality improvement; teaching and learning in medical education; principles of assessment in medical education; clinical leadership; curriculum design; effective debriefing; feedback and simulators and simulated patients.

Assessment methods

The course will be assessed through a variety of methods including completion of written assignments and the production of a dissertation.
