Midwifery and Maternal and Infant Health

The programme is for graduate health or social care professionals: midwives, obstetric nurses and other professionals working or interested in maternal and infant health in a range of clinical environments. It will meet the needs of both UK based and international nurses. Students study outcomes for women and infants, and share good practice; they develop the knowledge and skills required to enhance their own health and social care practice as well as to advance practice in their own profession or role.

Entry requirements

Registered or licensed midwife with a 1st degree to enroll on the midwifery award. The course is open to all those working in maternal and infant health care contexts.

Course modules

Global perspectives and maternal and infant health and/or contemporary issues in maternal and infant nutrition.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: essays; portfolios; folders of evidence; research proposals; learning contracts; exams; OSCEs; and assessed on-line activities such as debates and team work; dissertation.
