This programme is designed to provide education in the knowledge, skills and understanding of engineering design of advanced medical and biotechnology products and systems; students also acquire a working knowledge of the clinical environment to influences their design philosophy. The programme allows students to develop the skills to apply their engineering or scientific knowledge to technologies that further the developments in this field; part 1 may be taken in Dundee or in China.
Have or expect to have BSc or BEng degree at 2.2 or above (or a suitable equivalent) in a relevant engineering, physical science or medical degree. Applicants with a product or industrial design qualification may also be considered depending on engineering content of their degree qualification. IELTS of 6.0 (or equivalent), if the 1st language is not English.
Part 1 - biomechanics; biomaterials; bioinstrumentation; introduction to medical sciences. Part 2 - taught module: advanced biomedical imaging technologies; research project.
Written examinations; coursework; written thesis; oral presentation.
