Advanced Sustainable Urban Design

The aim of this programme is to develop urban design professionals.

Entry requirements

Good Honours degree and/or professional experience in any discipline (preferably relevant to design and planning of the built environment), and ability to show aptitude for the design of sustainable urban environment; English language requirement: IELTS of 6.5 (or equivalent), if the student's 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Modules include: Core modules: theories and discourses in sustainable urban design; urban design project 1; spatial analysis; sustainable urban design practice and master planning; urban design project 2; field trip; sustainability in contemporary cities; integrated sustainable urban design research project: route 1: design project and route 2: dissertation; space and security; sustainability assessment; climate change, risk and resilience.

Assessment methods

Essays and reports; case studies and presentations.
