The MSc Physiotherapy leads to eligibility to register with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HPC). Our course adopts an enquiry-based learning ethos focused on student-centred independent learning, problem solving and decision making, which will be facilitated over the two years of the programme. There will be an evolving level of complexity; from engaging with straightforward case scenarios that develop baseline theoretical and therapeutic understandings, through to complex scenarios addressing service development needs. Integral to the programme are the practice placements: in year one students undertake one level 1 (7 week) block; in year two, students undertake one level 2 (7 week) block and two level 3 (7 and 8 weeks) blocks.
A 2.1 Honours degree in biological sciences, sports science or related subject, or equivalent; applicants must have graduated within the last 10 years. All applicants who are not a British national and/or whose 1st language is not English will need to demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency. This is equivalent to an IELTS 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in all components, although we do accept many other types of qualifications or tests. In accordance with the UK Border Agencies Tier 4 visa guidelines, we will also waive the English language requirement for applicants who meet the defined nationality test or who have completed a degree level course in 1 of the listed countries.
Modules include Human sciences, physiotherapy theory and practice; professional development; and a research dissertation.
Eligible students residing in the UK will not pay tuition fees; these will be covered by the NHS. In addition eligible students will normally receive a small non-means tested NHS Grant, currently 1,000 per annum, and may apply for a means tested Bursary. Eligibility for bursaries is at the discretion of the NHS Business Services Authority.
