University of East Anglia UEA
Investment and Financial Management
This course prepares students to launch a successful career in the global corporate and financial sector as an analyst, consultant, treasurer, trader or investment manager; it requires no prior knowledge of business or finance and begins by building a solid understanding of basic business concepts, functions, roles and decisions; this enables students to combine and leverage their previous studies in a different subject area to achieve a deeper understanding of finance and a valuable competitive advantage; the course develops in an academically rigorous manner the general and specialist knowledge, skills and competencies required today by employers internationally; learning in applied subject areas is laboratory and coursework-based using software, tools and data (e.g. Microsoft Excel and add-ons, trading simulations, Thomson Reuters Eco Win, Fame, etc.) that are routinely used by major corporations and financial institutions; the specialist components of the modules and teaching material are in line with the syllabus of professional bodies such as the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute (CFA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Funding is available both from the University and from a number of external schemes.
