The course includes taught elements in advanced research methods, organisational understanding, and developing professional practice; these are combined with extensive research leading to a dissertation.
Applicants require a relevant Master's degree and preferably some experience of research; applicants should have several years experience in a relevant professional area; those without such qualifications are encouraged to discuss the possibility of registering for the course; international students are required to hold IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.5 in all components) or equivalent.
A variety of scholarships may be offered to UK/EU and International students; these are normally awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and for the duration of the period of study.
