Development Economics

The course provides advanced postgraduate level training opportunities both to recent graduates and mid-career professionals looking to update their analytical techniques and practical skills, or to acquire new ones; the course emphasises the development of research skills that are essential, not only for further study in the field of development economics, but also in practical development work, preparing students for employment with government ministries, national and international development agencies, NGOs, and the private sector.

Entry requirements

Good social sciences degree with a background in Economics, 2.1 or equivalent required. All applicants who are not a British national and/or whose 1st language is not English will need to demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency. This is equivalent to an IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all 4 components, although we do accept many other types of qualifications or tests. In accordance with the UK Border Agencies Tier 4 visa guidelines, we will also waive the English language requirement for applicants who meet the defined nationality test or who have completed a degree level course in one of the listed countries. Course modules

Core modules include: Econometric methods for development; international economic policy; micro and macroeconomics of development; other optional modules.

Sponsorship information

UEA offers a limited number of scholarships worth to qualified international students each year; these awards are based on academic merit.
