Primary with Early Years (3-7)
This programme train teachers who are adept in educating children in london's multicultural, multilingual urban environment; it provides students with the recommendation to the general teaching council for england (GTC) for qualified teacher status, the programme runs over 38 weeks with 18 weeks is spent in partner schools, generally split into 3 separate placements; the remaining time is spent in seminars, lectures, tutorials and assignment activities, designed to support students' professional development.
Honours degree, 2.2 or above, from a United Kingdom Higher Education Institution or an equivalent qualification; have had a minimum of 5 days work experience (voluntary or paid) with children in a mainstream primary school; have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C in the GCSE examinations in English, science and mathematics.
Core modules include: Learning and teaching across the curriculum and effective pedagogy; developing and extending understanding of a specific area (early years); professional practice (inclusive practice in multicultural urban settings; developing understanding and skills in English and mathematics. Optional modules include: Managing professional change and development (active inquiry leading to classroom intervention); critical incidents in teaching; technology-enhanced learning.
Written assignments; portfolios of work; school-based tasks; subject knowledge audits; files of evidence; assessment of teaching practice.
