Structural Engineering

The course enhances students� knowledge in all the essential areas, from advanced structural analysis to soil-structure engineering, and ensures research skills are sharp enough to give students the competitive edge when they embark on their career.

Entry requirements

A Bachelor of engineering Honours degree 3rd Class or above, or Bachelor of science Honours degree lower 2nd Class or above, in civil engineering. Appropriate professional qualifications such as MICE or MIStructE. Applicants with other qualifications are considered on an individual basis. For entry to the PG Diploma a minimum Class 3 Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or minimum 2.2 with Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the UK, taught in English in Civil Engineering is required.

Course modules

Soil structure engineering (option); design in steel and concrete (option); advanced structural analysis (option); structural dynamics and earthquake engineering (option); design in timber and masonry (option); research dissertation (core).

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on examinations and dissertation.
