University of East London
Electrical and Electronic Engineering
This programme provides a sound theoretical and practical knowledge in hardware and software technologies and techniques related to applications in electrical and electronic engineering, and the skills necessary to secure higher study or employment in this and related fields. The programme gives a deeper understanding of the technologies appropriate to electrical and electronic engineering systems, hardware and software interaction, and development and design. It is expected that the in-depth knowledge gained is vital for professionals working in the areas of electronic and electrical design. The programme will stimulate a rigorous and critical approach to analysis and design of the different technologies presented in the programme. You will work collectively to enhance team-building skills and will also work independently on a major project in which your individual knowledge and capabilities can be demonstrated.
Applicants must have a BEng(Hons) 2:2 or higher or a BSc(Hons) 2:1 or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics. Applicants for the PG Diploma require a Minimum Class 3 Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or minimum 2:2 with honours Bachelor of Science (BSc). Applicants whose first language is not English require an IELTS with an average score of 6.5 and 6.0 in all components (or equivalent).
Digital signal processing and applications (option); control engineering (option); radio frequency and microwave circuit design (option); wireless propagation (option); system engineering (option); communication networks (option); digital and embedded systems (option); power electronics and drives (option); radio frequency and microwave measurement and analysis (option); project management (option); research dissertation (core).
The way we assess you varies from module to module but will include examinations, coursework, and project work, and tests on competence in practical sessions.
