Theatre Directing

The programme combines academic study in performance with a practice-based approach to performance; students produce, perform and direct a range of work while undergoing a professional programme in actor training; each year, a different theatre company acts as a mentor for the staging performance module taking students through the whole process of directing and producing a production from its inception right up to the performance.

Entry requirements

2.1 Honours degree in theatre / performance studies or related subject and any relevant professional experience. Interview required. Overall IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking; minimum 5.5 in Reading and Listening (or recognised equivalent).

Course modules

Director training (core); performance laboratory (core); staging performance (core); research methods (core); dissertation (core).

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on performance and critical reflection.
