Musicology

This programme offers an intense introduction to methodologies and research techniques in musicology, covering both classical and popular music, autonomous works and functional music, e.g. for religious ceremonies or for the screen; drawing on the very broad range of research, it allows students to pursue, in greater depth, an area of special interest or to develop more specialised skills to further their careers; students learn the methodologies and research techniques necessary to analyse specific source material and learn to address the more philosophical questions raised, such as those of history, canons and archival research, performance studies, fieldwork, semiotics, the body, race, diaspora, gender, sexuality and consumption.

Entry requirements

Normally a 2.1 Honours degree or its equivalent , in music; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE(A) 67 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade B or CAE grade A.
